HAPPY NATIONAL DAY!!!

its 9 of august!
its national day!
NDP!!!
MY BIG DAY!!!

so i got up early today,
at 7 am,
got prepared early too.
then came jing yi's message,
saying she's still sick,
and not going ndp.
ahhh wasted luh!!!

ok so for the last time met dawn on bus 53..
ching ying boarded the bus from her stop.
lalalala...
soon we reached bishan,
but the HQ was locked,
so all of us waited at the bus stop outside.

the YAs came,
we went in the HQ..
then took pictures..
then tied dawnie's hair for the last time..
haha,
i was pulling her hair hard!!

then fall in..
my position was still the same as the preview,
4th column from the right,
8th row from the front.

we got our super long socks!xD
and was an unglam sight,
everyone was changing their sock,
to high high ones!
haha!

those chartered bus came,
boarded them,
sat at usual front seat,
wanted to hyper,
but dint,
ok luh,
maybe a little.
last day,
must be happy!!

reached suntec very fast.
walked the long way to the convention hall for the last time.
and i helped UNCLE EVAN hold his guitar.
he torture guides lor,
after me he ask afina hold.
uncle too old alr,
too weak to hold. x}
today our holding area was inside the hall,
luckily was not the carpeted room.

girl guides were sititng inbetween ncc and boys' brigade.
i sat with the GM guides.
had our lunch..
sang our second last grace together.
and our last lunch was the worst,
ok maybe to me.
all the chinese food,
and the very disgusting pau,
which had that dunno-what green stuff inside,
dawnie said it tasted like rubber,
yes it did.

soon after lunch we were on our way for the FINAL practice before the actual performance.
got our gloves and umbrellas!
im still holding red umbrella.
haha but its honourable leh,
red umbrellas form the letters of "singapore".
im part of the letter "N".
it was quite ok so they din let us stand for very long.
got back to the suntec convention hall..

then ice cream came!
i took vanilla agian.
haha.
and there was the national day cake,
bought by sir rave.
the cake's our national flag,
red and white,
and i went to think dirty.
the cream on the cake was like errr..
*shall not say it here*.

i was laughing like mad with dawn,
talking bout the disgusting cake.
heather and crystal like roughly knew what we were laughing about,
only jean.
haha she still dunno what was so disgusting.
i din say,
later she vomit out the cake.
haha.

then we had some crazy make-fun of each other with a guy.
haha!!
secrets leaked out. xDD

this time round the ncc were a little noisier than us,
girl guides were quite quiet today.
arghh why din hyper all the way?
last day leh!

there was the token of appreciation thing,
where all the sirs and parade marshalls and guiders got a little thing from GGS.

dinner came not long after,
PIZZA HUT!
thank god it was'nt kfc.
so our last grace was "thank u for the world so sweet".
awww..
last meal together..
eat finish had to prepare for NDP.
i tried to re-tie my scarf to a nicer square,
but failed to,
in the end it was still the same. -.-

last check,
gloves,
umbrella,
socks,
boots,
hat,
all in place,
we set off to march off the streets.

while we stood there,
dark clouds filled the sky.
i told dawnie,
i predict it will surely rain,
and it did!
it started to drizzle..

we all were like "oh no please dont rain"..
but no choice,
we started marching..
holding our umbrellas,
we marched proudly across the hundreds of eyes.
cameras were everywhere..
up,
down,
left,
right.
but im proud to be part of this marching contingent. :)

reached marina bay shortly.
it was still raining a little.
the excitement filled the air at last.
finally i could sense the tension.
screamed a little,
and there!
it was time.

as soon as those people on the motorcycle drove off,
we got ready.
when the command was given,
i was saying,
"there we go!"
and yeah,
off we marched out,
with 27 thousand spectators,
and 90 million households around the world view us,
it was thrilling.

we marched up the ramp well,
and when we were marching on the spot on the stage,
they zoom in into girl guides!!!
haha i saw it on the screen.
our timing was perfect!
everyone was together when they filmed the first two rows.
it was wonderful luh.
CONGRATS GUIDES!!!!

bom bom bom!
i stamped on the right foot at last.
as it was still raining,
and everyone was wearing the raincoat,
which is red,
so what was before my eyes were a great sea of red!

tried to absorb the entire atmosphere every second.
its a lifetime experience.
as i stood there,
i recalled the very first time we had our practice.
and now,
its NDP.
how fast!

standing on the stage there,
gave me the sense of satisfication,
the feeling of being contented.
its really my pride and honour standing there.
the kinda happiness could'nt be explained through words.

the first tamil song went..
and some ministers came.
then there was the chinese song,
then prime ministers came.
i saw mr lee kuan yew and his son!!
haha so honourable!

then the president came,
got to open our umbrellas,
to shelter from the rain.
haha.
and when the president was on the car going around,
i saw him!
haha,

i saw the president in person,
for the first time!
it was just a really mere glance of him though,
the car passed very fast.

the malay song and english song went by,
and soon the GOH was marching off alr.
SO FAST!
stood there for like another 10 minutes and it was time to march off.
our practice all along is ending.
thats sad.
yepps.

it was still drizzling a little,
but luckily the black knights was still able to fly.
"the black knights..."
that was the key word for us to start running.
so we ran back...
ITS OVER.

roars of cheers filled the carpark.
everyone was so happy our performance was a success!
went back to the suntec convention hall..
on the way back,
saw someone from our school,
the councillor..
bao hong i think.
haha she recognise me!
i was like staring at her and she was too,
both of us trying to make out who we were,
finally then we waved.
haha.

back at the convention hall,
funpacks were alr given out.
yay!
finally we get the funpack!
there was some sparkling drink for us,
to yam seng,
haaaa..
then me and dawnie went really hyper!
girl guides started to get noisy now.
were singing and cheering.
hey,
and girl guides won the cheering competition for this year's NDP!!
whooohoo!!!
yeah,
of course we deserve it!
we're always making alot of noise! xDD

had to sat bye bye to everyone there at the suntec convention hall.
on our way to the buses,
we saw the fireworks.
it was damn nice luh!
we're lucky to catch it.

wanted to go to bus 2 with crystal and company,
but got not enough space so had to go back bus 1.
bleh!
wanted to hyper with them.

in our own bus we sang all the ndp songs..
our last bus ride together..

back at guides headquaters,
mrs tang, jie min and some other YAs gave some "speech".
i was sitting right in front of jie min and
yeah,
she was holding back her tears.
when i saw melissa crying,
alr had that punch in my stomach.
arhh..
me and jie min could'nt see each other luh,
if not tears cannot hold back.

the journey of NDP 08 girl guides contingent ended with both laughter and tears.
everyone was busily exchanging phone numbers and msn.
definately,
we'll keep in contact right?
like what jie min said,
"this is not the end,
its the start of our friendship together".

though there were alot of conflicts here and there,
i hope every guide leaves with only the great memories we shared.
the memories to remember,
the memories not to be forgotten.

i'll miss u guys luh,
all YAs,
trainers,
guiders,
marshalls,
and guides!

NDP 08 had allowed me to venture into a wider world,
had let me had a better understanding of guiding,
of singapore,
and of course,
myself.

thank you to those people who helped me in one way or another,
through these few months.

once agian,
lemme type out our very own guides cheer.

girl guides i say ur number 1!
aiyo paiseh luh!
i say ur number 2!
we are the pikachu.

i say ur number 3!
u go and bang the tree!
i say ur number 4!

i say ur number 5!
all the rest can go fly kite!

PROFILE

Cheri's my big name. It's French fyi. So dont make a fool of yourself with pronouncing my name. I first breathe oxygen on the last day of September. I've been moulded in SACPS and growing up in PRCS. 3/8's the room i go to everyday in sch. I love the sky, it's my darling. Dance and Guides revolve around my world. I'm a very literature person, so read between my lines. I dont always talk things on the surface. History's my favourite subject and i dont see whats's wrong with it. Just as my passion for the stage won't be killed so easily. I live my life the way it is with wonderful friends around me. The last thing i need is a knife to cut my wrist. You can hate me for all you want, cause i believe hating only harms yourself. I dont give up so easily and I never will. If you know me well, you'll know I'm not just what you see. I am happy for the life God give me.

DESIRES

i'm contented. :D
